Are you looking to make a positive, tangible impact in your community and gain invaluable personal and professional skills while doing so? Reading Partners' AmeriCorps program offers you the opportunity to do just that! AmeriCorps is a federally funded initiative designed to engage ordinary citizens in activities that positively affect urban and under-resourced areas. As a part of the recently launched Serve A Year Campaign, AmeriCorps is challenging those with at least a high-school diploma to join the movement to improve our nation!
 
AmeriCorps members receive a modest $14,000 living stipend and are also eligible for a $5,730 Segel Education Award upon completion of 1700 hours of service. In addition, benefits include federal student loan forbearance and basic health, dental, and vision care. Finally, members have access to ongoing supervisor support and coaching, career and professional development workshops, and networking opportunities. 
 
There are a variety of organizations partnering with AmeriCorps to fill their team, including Reading Partners, a national education nonprofit dedicated to recruiting and training community members to provide one-on-one tutoring to K-5 students reading six months to 2.5 years below grade level. Currently, Reading Partners Dallas is serving over 800 students in 19 schools and is on track to significantly grow in the coming years! Several AmeriCorps positions are open for the FY15-16 school year, including Volunteer Coordinator, Site Coordinator, and Regional Site Coordinator.
