Councilman Announces 'Paint the Town Purple'

Councilmember Jennifer Gates and the Domestic Violence Taskforce are asking   Downtown Dallas businesses to “Paint the Town Purple” to help bring greater awareness to domestic violence. This awareness event is coordinated with the Conference on Crimes Against Women, March 31 through April 2.

The Omni Hotel, Reunion Tower, Bank of America Plaza, Hunt Oil Tower and 1400 Hi Line will turn their building lights purple. Neiman Marcus Downtown will turn a window display purple; the Nasher will be hanging purple ribbons in the trees in front of the museum; and Trammel Crow Center is changing the flowers in the lobby to purple. The Renaissance Tower is encouraging tenants and employees to wear purple. City of Dallas employees are also invited to wear purple in solidarity. Additional participants include the University of North Texas System, HNTB Companies, One Arts Plaza, Genesis Women’s Shelter, the Family Place, AT&T and the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau.
