Currently ranked #2 in the senior class, Sai Lammata is known on campus for her hard work ethic and her kindness to others.

Senior Saipriya Lamatta is a Scholar, Athlete, Hard Worker

Senior Saipriya Lamatta has been selected as a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Saipriya’s high academic achievement brings great pride and honor to the Bishop Dunne community.

Over 1.5 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Semifinalists mark the highest-scoring entrants in each state and represent less than 1% of each state’s high school seniors.

Saipriya Lammata, Sai for short, is a product of two worlds.

Born in the United States, Sai has been surrounded by typical American culture, while her parents, originally from India, have raised her with an understanding of Indian culture. Sai appreciates how these two cultures have helped her develop as an individual.

When Sai first started at Bishop Dunne, she was shocked by the level and caliber of work that was expected from her in only the 8th grade. She had always been a hard worker, but now she was being challenged to reach higher goals. Because she was able to enhance her work ethic, the transition into high school was easy.

"Although AP Human Geography, my AP class as a freshman, was no walk in the park, I was able to keep up with the workload and enjoy the lessons like demography," Sai says.

Sai joined the tennis team and stays at school later for practices and games. She has enjoyed seeing the hustle and bustle of the school after hours with club events, fundraisers, tutoring, and much more.

Having grown up with two different cultures, Sai was thrilled by the diversity of Bishop Dunne. "There are so many cultures, religions, and backgrounds here, but we are all working together and helping one another," Sai explains.

“At Bishop Dunne, you can be whoever you want to be.”

Sai will be one of the Student Ambassadors volunteering at the 15th Annual Bishop Dunne 100 Dinner to be held at the Hilton Anatole on October 22, 2015. The dinner raises funds for tuition assistance for the next 100 students to attend the school. See the school's website for more information: www.bdcs.org or contact Mary Gracheck at: mgracheck@bdcs.org or 469-291-1785.
