The MetroTex Association of REALTORS® today announced its decision to endorse Mike Rawlings in his re-election bid for Mayor of Dallas. MetroTex President Steve Habgood cited Rawling’s commitment to area homeowners.

“MetroTex members are actively involved with the Mayor’s Grow  South Initiative and we’ve sponsored meetings for programs like Neighborhood Plus and Rising Stars. These programs directly benefit area homeowners and protect both real estate consumers and the real estate industry,” said Habgood. “That’s why we need local leaders like Mayor Rawlings who are committed to improving the housing economy in their communities.”

Dallas-Fort Worth has the nation’s most active housing market, with days on market among the shortest in the country and sales rising at twice the national average rate. To maintain that momentum, local governments must understand homeowners’ concerns and act to bolster homeownership in the area. Supporting those efforts is the Association’s top priority this election season. Through the candidate interview process of the MetroTex Association of Realtors, Mike Rawlings clearly showed a command of issues critical to sustaining our economy, as well as the needs and challenges our fast-growing area will encounter in the future.

North Texas Realtors have championed a number of legislative issues enhancing the lives of Texans, such as urging reforms to the property appraisal system in 2011 and 2009, preventing a tax of $600 or more on the personal vehicles of independent Texans in 2007 and advocating for billions in property tax reductions in 2005.
