Charlotte and Don Test, Dallas residents and local philanthropists have continued their support of Grace Presbyterian Village and Presbyterian Communities and Services with a historic $9 million gift. They have indicated that their preference is for the funds to be used in the areas of greatest needs, including funds for both capital improvements and the Grace Caring Fund. Darrell Baltimore, executive director of the community located in Oak Cliff said “Through the dedication and commitment of great people, Grace has established a reputation of being a destination for those that desire ‘care from the heart.’ The Test gift will enable Grace to address immediate needs that are vital to the long-term future of the community. These improvements will establish and lay the foundation for the Grace master plan, ensuring another 50 years of Grace’s commitment to delivering our mission and building on our reputation of providing sustaining value.”
While this is the largest gift given to Grace Presbyterian Village since it open its doors in 1962, it is just one of many contributions the couple has made over the past 30 years. Their association with the 5-star rated, senior living community started in the 1980s when Mrs. Test’s mother lived at Grace Presbyterian Village. They have been steadfast in their support ever since. With their generosity, Grace Presbyterian Village has been able to make renovations to the community so that residents have amenities that directly impact the quality of their lives such as a chapel which is used almost daily for services, concerts, lectures and choir practice as well as the fitness center which offers a variety of classes aimed at helping residents stay active. “Over the years, Charlotte and Don Test have done so much for Grace. This latest gift means more than we can ever say and will allow us to not only continue important upgrades, but to further the ministry of Grace in so many ways,” said Godwin Dixon, president and CEO of Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation.
“The Tests are a wonderful example of leaving an indelible legacy. Their gift will support those who make Grace their home for many years to come,” said Peter Lynch, executive director of the Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation. Their passion for ensuring a vibrant Grace community and their commitment to the Grace Caring Fund is appreciated more than we can say. This wonderful community is made even better through their loyal support.
Mr. and Mrs. Test have also made a significant contribution to their endowment that provides benevolent care through the Caring Fund for those who have had the good fortune to live a long life, but through no fault of their own have had the misfortune to outlive their resources.
Grace Presbyterian Village is going on its 6th decade of providing exceptional care to seniors. With this substantial investment, the senior living community is positioned to continue its commitment to provide a safe, faith-based, warm and inviting environment that feels like home for many decades to come.
