Dallas’s Newest Stand-Alone Chick-fil-A Restaurant Opens June 5

Dallas’ newest Chick-fil-A® restaurant will open June 5, bringing more than 70 new jobs, the chance for 100 adults to win free Chick-fil-A meals for a year and the opportunity for community members to donate books to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas the day before the opening.

After 10 years and more than $21.5 million in free food given away, Chick-fil-A’s “First 100” celebration continues to be the chain’s signature grand opening event which transforms the restaurant parking lot into a 24-hour community friendly party as the crowd awaits the opening.

The new Dallas restaurant at 1535 N. Cockrell Hill Road will host the next First 100 event that will award a total of $30,000 in free food. A digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A® Meals will be given to each of the first 100 eligible adults, ages 18 and older with identification, in line when the doors open about 6 a.m. on  June 5. If more than 100 people are onsite when the line officially opens at 6 a.m. on June 4, then all 100 spots will be determined by a drawing held that morning with those selected needing to camp out for 24 hours to secure their spot. For complete rules, see Chick-fil-A First 100 Promotion.

In conjunction with the First 100 celebration, Chick-fil-A at Cockrell Hill will be partnering with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas for a book drive from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on June 4 at the new restaurant. Owner/Operator Jeff Mulkey will award one free Chick-fil-A entrée coupon per person for book donations. Books collected at Chick-fil-A will be given to local pre-K through third grade children being served by United Way-funded organizations focused on helping prepare children for kindergarten and encouraging development of a love of reading to succeed in school.

Chick-fil-A at Cockrell Hill features the chain’s newest interior design that includes subway tile and metals in a variety of finishes all complimented by an abundance of windows to allow plenty of natural light. The environmentally friendly design showcases elements of energy conservation, water efficiency and material reuse. The new restaurant is an enhanced drive-thru concept allowing team members to quickly serve customers who drive-thru or request catered orders for larger off-site events. In addition to providing twice the award-winning drive-thru service, inside counter dining for 12 and outdoor seating for 50 is available. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m.

All four of Chick-fil-A’s June 5 openings are happening in Texas bringing 300 new jobs to the state and the awarding of more than $120,000 in free food. The other Chick-fil-A grand openings include Schertz near San Antonio, Mesa Street & Remcon Circle in El Paso, and Loop 610 Northwest in Houston. It’s projected that more than 25 percent of Chick-fil-A’s 2014 restaurant expansion growth will occur in Texas, with 11 of those openings occurring between Jan. 30 and June 5. This year’s openings will take the total in the state to more than 300 locations, the most Chick-fil-A restaurants in any state.

Chick-fil-A opened its first Texas location inside La Palmera Mall, Corpus Christi, in 1970 and continued to expand in malls throughout the state before opening its first stand-alone restaurant in 1993 in Grapevine.  The new Chick-fil-A on Cockrell Hill Road is the third to open in the Dallas area in May and is one of 88 new restaurants the chain plans to open across the country in 2014, creating more than 6,600 new jobs. Chick-fil-A continued to grow in 2013, increasing the number of new restaurants initially planned for the year and reporting record-setting annual sales of more than $5 billion, the 47th consecutive year of sales growth since the company began in 1967.

Mulkey is a native of Dallas who was encouraged by cousin and fellow operator Brandon Mulkey to pursue Chick-fil-A as a career after 10 years of active duty as a Naval Aviator and almost 12 years in the data-driven marketing field. Mulkey and wife Kim have three children and look forward to serving the Dallas community.

“Personalized customer service and freshly prepared food have been the hallmarks of Chick-fil-A since the day Truett opened his first restaurant,” said Mulkey. “My team members and I are committed to those same ideals as we welcome our guests to our new Dallas restaurant and provide them with a remarkable experience.”
