Camp Moats Coming To Oak Cliff

Former NFL running back Ryan Moats is bringing his “Camp Moats” two-day summer program to Oak Cliff.

Players as young as 4 years old can learn about the game. The camp is divided into three groups: toddlers, 4th to 5th graders and 6th to 8th graders. The camp will run June 23-24.

Born and raised in Oak Cliff, Moats went to Louisiana Tech on a full football scholarship and was drafted into the NFL after his record-breaking junior year. He was named Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2004, and was drafted in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft, the #77 pick over-all, by the Philadelphia Eagles. On his first carry in a game, he scored a 40-yard touchdown. He was traded a few years later to the Houston Texans.

Married to “Miss Louisiana Tech” Tamishia Moats, the couple has two children, daughter Rylee and son Ryan II. Together, the Moats created and ran “Camp Moats” in Louisana with hundreds of children coming out to play football and learn dance routines from Tamishia, who was captain of the Dance Squad at Louisiana Tech.

The family returned to the Dallas area and Ryan joined the staff at Bishop Dunne last year, as director of student athlete development. He has used his skills in video production and graphic design to promote the school throughout the metroplex. Tamishia joined Bishop Dunne this spring, working on special events and promotions including the school’s Sports Media Guide and Annual Golf Tournament.

Students who wish to learn about the sport of Football, the NFL Combine and the NFL Draft will enjoy this camp. Sponsorships for teams of 13 participants are available.
