Life School Receives Grants from Dart Foundation For Science/Engineering Initiatives

Life School, a leading North Texas charter school serving over 5,000 students, is pleased to announce that is has been named the recipient of two Dart Foundation STEM Grants that will benefit the Kindergarten and Secondary Engineering classes at its Oak Cliff campuses. These grants will be used toward science related initiatives at both of the campuses. 

A grant of $4,700 was received for the Life School Oak Cliff Elementary campus to use in purchasing science kits that will allow all of its Kindergarten students to experience inquiry-based science throughout the school year. The students will have the opportunity to use the materials in these kits to build concrete experiences that will enable them to fully comprehend science content and heighten their interest in science-based activities as they begin their academic career.

The Life School Oak Cliff Secondary campus also received a grant in the amount of $4,655 that will be used to purchase renewal energy kits for its Engineering Design and Problem Solving class. These kits will be used by the students in this class to design and build machines using renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and water power. These activities will help to expand the students’ problem solving skills continue their academic or professional career after high school.

“We are thankful to the Dart Foundation for their generous gifts that will benefit our students in the areas of science and engineering,” said Brent Wilson, Life School Superintendent. “We want to have innovative approaches in our classrooms that will provide hands-on learning experiences for our students and this grant will help us reach that goal.”


Life Schoolopened as a public charter school in 1998 and has campuses in Oak Cliff, West Dallas, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Red Oak and Waxahachie. In 2013 and 2014, Life School earned the highest rating of five stars from the Texas Comptroller Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), which recognizes school districts and campuses for excellence in resource allocations that contribute to high academic achievement and cost-effective operations. Life School’s mission is to train leaders with life skills for the 21st century by establishing strong academics, character training and a parenting program.
