Introduction to Antique Clock Collecting

Do you have an old family clock that evokes memories of happy times?  Do you enjoy the soothing tick tock sound of a centuries old timekeeper?  Are you curious about the history of these mechanical marvels?  Then, you may be interested in an upcoming class.

Lone Star Chapter 124 of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, Inc. is hosting a new class entitled "Introduction to Antique Clock Collecting, Repair & Maintenance."  The two day class is scheduled for October 25 and 26 at the Founders Building in Grapevine.  The class will cover a brief history of time keeping and the American clock industry, how to begin a collection, as well as a hands on lab where students will take apart a simple clock movement and put it back together.  Lex Rooker, an instructor with Chapter 190 in Ventura, CA is being brought in to teach the class, which has been very successful in the Santa Barbara County area.

Tuition for the class is $50, and the class is limited to 10 students.  All necessary tools and supplies will be provided.  To register, visit the chapter website at www.chapter124.org and click on the Education tab.  Follow the class schedule until you get to the correct class.  For additional information, please e-mail class coordinator John Acker at jsatex@att.net or call 214-467-0076.
