Chocolate And Champagne Featured At Altrusa International Of Downtown Dallas Event

Altrusa International of Downtown Dallas is hosting “Dessert First,” a networking event for business professionals, on October 23 at 3015 at Trinity Grove, 3015 Gulden Lane, Dallas. The fund raising event is benefiting Kids-U, an after school program for low income children in apartment complexes across the city. Tickets are available on the club’s website: www.altrusadtd.com.

Kids-U is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting economically disadvantaged students in completing their education by providing academic tutoring on-site in low-income apartment communities. Students in grades K to 8 “come home” to Kids-U after their school day, where they receive free after-school tutoring in core subjects of math, language arts, and reading. Kids-U currently operates in eight Dallas locations and serves 320 students. Over the past 11 years, 99.9 percent of Kids-U’s students have been successfully promoted to the next school grade.

The Altrusa Club of Downtown Dallas was established in 1982 and has over 70 members including business owners, attorneys, CPAs and judges in its membership. The club’s motto is “Educating families for a better future.” The women support over a dozen non-profits in Dallas from "Attitudes and Attire," providing professional clothes to women re-entering the work force, to delivering Meals on Wheels.

“Chocolate, for Goodness' sake!” is the tag line for the dessert and champagne event, featuring Honorary Co-Chairs George Ellis and Robert Wright.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 3015 at Trinity Grove, a new establishment in the shadow of the Margaret Hill Hunt Bridge.  Business men and women are encouraged to attend the event and network with the best and most philanthropic-minded women in Dallas.
