24HourDallas – the non-profit organization dedicated to creating a safe, vibrant and diverse nighttime culture for businesses, residents and guests – debuts Dallas Digithon, the first 24-hour online streaming variety show November 7 and 8 starting at 12 noon broadcasting from On the Levee, 1108 Quaker Street 75207 and benefiting Dallas artists. Viewers can tune in at www.DallasDigithon.com.

The Dallas Digithon will feature Dallas artists representing disciplines from the performing and visual arts including food, fashion and photography in an online variety show format streaming live for 24 hours. Artists who live in Dallas or primarily work in Dallas are invited to apply and submit their work for consideration in this year’s first www.DallasDigithon.com.

“24HourDallas is committed to raising awareness on how the creative industry has been crippled and affected significantly more disproportionately than other industries during this pandemic. Creative occupations in the performing and fine arts represented a third of wage employment losses according to the Brookings’ study Lost Art,” says Randall White, 24HourDallas founder. “In the same time period, the creative industry nationally lost over 150 billion dollars and 2.7 million jobs. The DFW market lost 2.7 million dollars and nearly 56,000 jobs. We need to use this 24-hour Dallas Digithon to emphasize how dire our situation is. Dallas has some of the finest talent in the world. We need to remind everyone of this and by doing so, raise funds to provide emergency grants directly to the artists.”

“Our goal is to raise a minimum of $25,000, which will allow us to provide funding for 75 to 100 artists who are creative engines of our nighttime economy. Artists and arts organizations from all disciplines are invited to apply to have their work represented in the 24-hour variety www.dallasdigithon.com. Dallas artists can also apply for a relief grant on our website” concludes White.
