Bishop Dunne's varsity football team is off to an impressive start winning its first game 45-17.

High School Football Week 1: Bishop Dunne 45, Dallas Christian 17

The 2014 TAPPS 5A- Div. 1 State Champions in football played their first game of the season last Friday August 28, 2015 away at Dallas Christian.

Quarterback Caleb Evans threw five touchdown passes, as Bishop Dunne opened its TAPPS title-defense season with a convincing win over Dallas Christian. Evans was nearly flawless in his first start, as he completed his first 11 passes and finished the game with 358 yards on 22-of-27 passing. Evans completed 15 of 17 passes for 235 and three touchdowns in the first half. Bishop Dunne, as a team, also had 147 rushing yards. Evans had 79 yards on seven attempts, while Jordan Butler added 65 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Bishop Dunne's defensive line was dominant throughout the game. The unit of Kansas State commit Jordon Robertson; juniors Damion Daniels and LaQuantis Hennington; and sophomores Calvin Avery and Rascoe Jones consistently frustrated the Dallas Christian offense. Bishop Dunne held Dallas Christian to 32 yards in the first half.

Chevin Calloway: 5 tackles and 1 pass break up

Daniel Esparza 6/6 extra point attempts and 1/2 (23 yard) field goal attempts

 

In addition the Bishop Dunne junior varsity football team defeated Dallas Christian 48 to 20 in their season opener. The offense was led by Stacy Conner who connected with Marquez Beason for a 99 yard touchdown. Conner also connected with Jabari Khepera for a 40 yard touchdown reception. The defense was led by Carson Horner who recorded three sacks. Gabe Matous also recorded three sacks while Jalen Drayden returned an interception for a touchdown. The special teams were led by Tucker Littleton who consistently placed kickoffs inside the 20 yardline. Marquez Beason also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. ​
