Bishop Dunne Swim Team Heads to State Competition

Personal bests and school records were set all day Friday January 29, 2016, at the TAPPS Regional swim meet in Mansfield, Texas. Both the men and women competed well, with the men placing sixth and the women placing seventh.

The women’s 200 medley relay team set a positive tone for the Falcons with a point scoring, fifth place finish. The women’s relay team then shattered their personal best time in the 200 freestyle relay by a whopping nine seconds (1:54.55) and placing sixth.

Individually, the women’s team did extremely well, with several personal best times. Cat Day set a new personal best in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.03, a full eight seconds faster than her previous best time. She also set a new personal best in the 100 yard freestyle, posting a 1:01.45, which is more than four seconds faster than her previous record. Emily Ranspot placed twelfth in the 100 yard butterfly with a personal best 1:23.43, and Ekaterina Boucher posted a personal best of 1:07.75 in the same event. Lauren Weese (100 yard backstroke) and Lexie Dunn (100 yard breaststroke) scored points for the team with eighth and seventh place finishes respectively.

The men’s team looked equally as strong and also shattered several personal and team records. The relay team has been consistently getting faster all season and the trend continued in Mansfield. The 200 yard freestyle relay team placed third with a personal and school record time of 1:39.36, which also qualifies them for a spot in the state meet. They also set a school record and placed third in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.13.

Thomas Lincoln (25.60) and Kyle Sivinski (25.97) set personal records in the men’s 50 yard freestyle, finishing eighth and tenth respectively. Ricardo Monroy and Arvin Oquindo both set personal bests in the 200 yard freestyle with times of 2:31.24 and 3:06.59. Elijah Recinos scored nine points for the men’s team in the 100 yard butterfly with a first place finish and a lightning fast time of 56.98. He has qualified for the state meet in this event and is seeded fifth. Angelo Bianco scored for the team as well with a fourth place finish (1:07.48) in the 100 yard breaststroke.
