Arts Mission Oak Cliff [AMOC], a Dallas arts nonprofit focused on providing high quality rental space to local artists at an affordable cost is celebrating their five year anniversary in a BIG way.

Standing tall on a corner lot across from W.E Greiner Middle School, the Winnetka Congregational Church, first built in 1929, now serves as a homestead for artists of all kinds under the banner of Arts Mission Oak Cliff [AMOC]. Led by Anastasia Munoz, AMOC is celebrating five years of creation and community May 21st with their inaugural fundraiser. Prom 2022, a night "Under The Sea'' is Art Mission Oak Cliff’s opportunity to bring artists, community members, and supporters together to honor the work they’ve created since opening in 2017.

Over the past five years, Arts Mission Oak Cliff has served as a home for artistic growth and play, with over 100 companies and individual artists producing and showing work in its walls. This year's event, organized by event chair Maddie Goff, is set to transport guests back to the whimsy and fun of senior prom with live music, an art walk auction, food, an open bar and more in an effort to raise money to support the advancement and development of Dallas artists. With an ambitious goal to raise $30,000, Arts Mission Oak Cliff is looking to set themselves up for success for another impactful five years.

“In five years Arts Mission Oak Cliff has created something magical. I still remember walking into the building for the first time and being overwhelmed by the feeling that I had finally found a place to create with a built-in artist community to support me” said Maddie Goff, “Which is why I am so excited and passionate about this year's event. It is a chance for more humans to experience this magic and set up AMOC as a generational pillar in the community.”

Arts Mission Oak Cliff is on its way to creating a lasting legacy in Oak Cliff. Grant funding from The City of Dallas’s Office of Arts and Culture allowed AMOC to expand programming, assisting in the launch of two new programs in 2022. The Subsidized Rehearsal Space Program, which offers high quality, professional rehearsal space to local artists at a rate of $15 per hour, along with their Community Gallery Series (CGS), a partnership with three local visual artists. Over the course of the year, each artist offers a series of classes, workshops, and art exhibitions in AMOC’s underground space, free of charge to the community.

“Having a space on my block where my neighbors and I can come to create, play, and make meaningful connections has transported me back to when AMOC was Winnetka Congregational Church,” says Rachel Kitto. ”Sundays were filled with food and music in the parking lot. Everyone would pull up with chairs after service and we would dance to the radio. I am excited to recapture that parking lot magic at Prom this year.”

Tickets for Arts Mission Oak Cliff’s Prom a night "Under The Sea” are available starting at $85 for individuals and $150 for couples and include food, dancing, entertainment and auction access. Sponsorship opportunities are also available starting at $1,000.
