Wow in the World’s Wow on Wheels Pop-up is May 30 in the Garden

 

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden ushers in summer with a Memorial Day weekend celebration featuring events, summer plantings and a place to unwind. Thanks to the Kelley Family, May 28 to 30 are Kelley Family Days, which give free entrance to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden with paid admission. Guests can bring a picnic or visit Terrace Café for specials. 

 On Monday, May 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Tinkercast, makers of Wow in the World the #1 podcast for kids and their grown-ups, stops by the Dallas Arboretum with its Wow on Wheels pop-up van featuring community art projects and scavenger hunts. See below for details. This experience is included with garden admission.

11 a.m. North Texas Learn to Grow Fridays: Shade Gardening for North Texas – A Tasteful Place, presented by the North Texas Master Gardeners, the Dallas Arboretum Horticultural Staff and local experts.

 

 

Saturday, May 28

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Country Critters Petting Zoo and face painting – DeGolyer Crossroads 

 

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Lucca and Livvy Nitro Pressed Juices 

 

10:30 a.m. Dallas Zoo Animal Adventures – Martin Rutchik Concert Stage & Lawn

This 30-45-minute educational program featuring 5-7 ambassador animals including birds, mammals and reptiles. Meet animals from all over the world, learn all about their

amazing adaptations, and learn how to create a better world for animals.

 

11 a.m.-3 p.m. Family keepsake photos provided by the Dallas Arboretum Volunteer Advisory Board with donations to the Dallas Arboretum volunteers

 

11 a.m.-3 p.m.  Lil’ Red Flower Truck flower sales 

 

2-4 p.m.  Dallas Brass Band, Ensemble, playing favorite hits – Martin Rutchik Concert Stage & Lawn

 

 

Sunday, May 29

10:30 a.m. Window to the Wild Bird Show – Martin Rutchik Concert Stage & Lawn

 

11 a.m. Bird Walk with Jake Poinsett of Trinity River Audubon Center. Join Jake on a guided bird walk through the garden in search of various birds that use the garden’s plants.

Tour begins in the Main Entry Plaza.

 

11 a.m.-3 p.m.  Lil’ Red Flower Truck flower sales

Monday, May 30

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wow on Wheels, the #1 podcast for kids and their grown-ups is taking to the road with Wow on Wheels. Designed for children ages 6-11, Wow on Wheels includes community art projects and scavenger hunts around the van designed for kids to discover the wonders in the world and share how they add WOW to the world. Dallas wowzers are asked to bring a teal-colored item that can fit into the palm of their hand to help create a rainbow collage of WOW.

The Walne Family Discovery Lab is a unique, in-depth opportunity to experience hands-on STEM learning in the Exploration Center, perfect for those ages 6 and older.

Fantastic Fungi: In almost every land ecosystem, fungus exists. Come to the Walne Family Discovery Lab and dissect a common fungi, mushrooms, and learn about their role in nature.

 

STEM Stops: Every day at 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

1:30 p.m. • It’s the Pond Life: Live Pond investigation

3:30 p.m. • Root to Fruit – Did you know we eat many different parts of plants? See if your favorite foods are roots, fruits or more!

 

Tour the Solar System at the OmniGlobe: Every day at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

5/27-30 An “out of this world” experience, the OmniGlobe is a six-foot sphere is illuminated by two projectors where people can learn about the planets, weather and more.
