Photo left to right: Bishop Dunne Seniors Khie Johnson, Tatianna Boucher, X-Zandria Henderson, Kayla Evans, Rachel Benavides and Julia Campbell dressed to serve the women of Oak Cliff Saturday.
Six seniors from Bishop Dunne spent their first Saturday morning on spring break serving the ladies of Oak Cliff.

Instead of sleeping in, Rachel Benavides gathered five of her friends and classmates to be servers at the Annual Oak Cliff Women’s Luncheon on March 8. Each senior served two tables of ladies. Chickens salad sandwiches and lemon cake were on the menu.

Organized in 1951, the purpose of The Oak Cliff Woman's Club is “to foster friendships and civic responsibilities through cultural and philanthropic activities for our members and our community while learning about and participating in arts, crafts, garden, music, and fundraising activities.”

The primary community Service project supports Genesis Women’s Shelter, a safe haven for abused women and their children seeking shelter from domestic violence. All proceeds from the luncheon will help others in the Dallas community.

Located at 3555 West Kiest Boulevard, this was the 18th “Festival of Tables” with 125 ladies attending and it was the first time Bishop Dunne students served as waitresses.

“It was such a joy! The day was spent serving others and sharing with the ladies our next journey in life,” Rachel said. Each of the six seniors has already been accepted to college. “It was so much fun! And my mother met the ladies there and is now applying for membership.”
