Form a Bark For Life Team

Your American Cancer Society is still recruiting teams to participate in the Bark For Life of Best Southwest Cities. The Bark For Life will be held at Armstrong Park, 387 E. Wheatland Road, Duncanville, TX  75116 – June 4, 2011 from 8:00a.m. – 1:00p.m.

The ACS BFL honors the life-long contribution of our Canine Caregivers with this 1 mile dog walk.   In addition, we will be honoring cancer survivors and those who have lost their battle with the disease during the Bark For Life event.  Our Honor Tree will be available for those to hang a bone on.

The American Cancer Society extends an invitation to all to form a team, raise much needed funds and come out to participate in Bark For Life. It’s a unique community event that allows individuals and their canines from all walks of life to join in the fight against cancer.

The event will host several local vendors, have scheduled expositions with the Dog Trainers of Dallas County & K-9 Search & Rescue, Tail-Waggin’ Tutors for the kids, and of course, contests for the dogs and their owners.  In addition, several Rescue Organizations and the Tri-City Animal Shelter will have adoptable pets available.  “This event is about celebrating life and honoring all cancer survivors and the life-long contribution of our Canine Caregivers who’ve supported them through their illness,” said Stacey Copeland, Chairperson of the Bark For Life at Armstrong Park in Duncanville.

Canine Caregivers are Canine Companions, Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Police Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs, and Diagnostic Dogs, who with their owners, are joining the American Cancer Society as Relay participants to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor people lost to cancer, to fundraise in support of cancer research, education, awareness, patient services, and advocacy, and to help eliminate the suffering that cancer causes worldwide.

Canine companions represent unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of human abilities or appearances. The American Cancer Society Bark For Life is an incredible way to ‘take a bite out of cancer’, smile, and make new friends – canine and human. All proceeds benefit ACS services in the community.
