HAPPY HOUR, THE CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN BAND CELEBRATES 10TH ANNUAL CONCERT

HAPPY HOUR, THE CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN BAND CELEBRATES 10TH ANNUAL CONCERT

Alumni to Join Current Band Members vIn Annual Free Concert To Mark Decade

Dallas, Texas (July 18, 2012) – HAPPY HOUR, THE CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN BAND will hold its 10th annual concert “PRAISE” on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Community Life Center of Holy Trinity Catholic Community. The concert is free and open to the public. The campus is located at 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue at Blackburn and Gilbert.

“The theme of the 10th annual concert is ‘Praise’ because we are always giving praise,” says Augustine “Tino” Jalomo, founder and director of HAPPY HOUR. “We started on January 12, 2003 to provide the music for our Sunday Five p.m. Roman Catholic liturgy. Since then, we’ve experienced growth and participation not only in the band but also in our congregation. We sing!”

“That’s very important,” Jalomo continued, “as the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium ‘desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations.’ So I give praise for our band members, for our congregation at Holy Trinity and for our ministry.”

Special guests include alumni who have sung with the band since its beginning in January 2003. “We’re all very excited about this year’s concert especially as we’ll have former members join us. They’re coming from Oklahoma, North Carolina, even as far away as Paris, France. It’s truly awesome, in the truest sense of the word.”

Jalomo got his start as a volunteer at Holy Trinity and did that for about eight years, he said. “But throughout all this time I’ve strived to make sure that what we are sharing with our congregation is enhancing the Sunday Five liturgy,” he said. “We reach more Catholics in general on the weekend via the liturgy. I want to make sure that our role in the liturgy is sound and facilitates that inspired worship experience.”

Holy Trinity Catholic Church is at 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue at Blackburn and Gilbert. A light reception with the band members will start at 6 p.m. The free concert starts at 7 p.m. For more information visit the Facebook page (facebook.com/happyhourtheband) or call 214.718.2384.

About HAPPY HOUR, THE CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN BAND

HAPPY HOUR started on January 12, 2003 to provide music for the new Sunday Five (p.m.) liturgy at Holy Trinity Catholic Community and is made up of volunteer members from the parish with the exception of the director and musical accompanist. The band has expanded to share its ministry with other area churches, The Catholic Dioceses of Fort Worth and Dallas and works to promote the rich heritage of post-Vatican II and other positive-inspired literature in song. Among the composers in the band’s repertoire are Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher, David Kauffman, Bob Hurd, Marty Haugen, Dan Schutte and David Haas. Additionally, the band enjoys sharing secular songs that have positive messages such as those written or performed by Steven Schwartz, Mandy Moore, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Dixie Chicks and Simon and Garfunkel to name a few.
