The Methodist Dallas Medical Center received the 2011 Chairman's Award from the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce for all of its contributions to the local community.

At the December awards presentation ceremony, the medical center received special recognition for the financial investment it has made in Oak Cliff.

The hospital will begin a $108 million construction project this summer, which will create a new 248,000-square-foot, six-story trauma and critical care center, according to the Methodist Dallas Medical Center website. The new trauma and critical care center will have "58 new emergency room beds, six trauma suites, eight surgical suites, a 36-bed critical care unit, and the ability to expand to 11 stories for future growth."
