Get Up and Give: North Texas Giving Day is Thursday, Sept. 13

Thursday, Sept. 13 marks the Fourth Annual North Texas Giving Day, presented by DonorBridge.

Founded in 2009 by Communities Foundation of Texas with support from the Center for Nonprofit Management and The Dallas Foundation, DonorBridge is a free public resource designed to connect supporters to North Texas nonprofits.

According to DonorBridge, North Texas Giving Day, an annual event, exists so that donations of $25 or more to pre-approved North Texas nonprofits, made at www.DonorBridgeTX.org, will be multiplied from a pool of $1 million dollars in challenge funds and prizes.

“Each year, the generosity of North Texans is amazing,” said Brent Christopher, president and CEO, Communities Foundation of Texas and DonorBridge founder. “Through just three one-day North Texas Giving Day events, thousands have come together to raise more than $19 million dollars. We know this year we’ll raise even more to fuel the important work of nonprofits serving our local communities.”

Anyone interested in being a part of North Texas Giving Day can donate online at www.DonorBridgeTX.org.  Donations may also be made in person at Communities Foundation of Texas (5500 Caruth Haven Lane).  Any donations made from 7 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, Sept. 13 by either method will qualify as a part of North Texas Giving Day.

Those donating in person will get a special treat, as the parking lot of Communities Foundation of Texas will be the home to delicious food and fun, family-friendly entertainment.  Several food trucks, including Easy Slider, Potato-Potahto, Enticed, Rockstar Bakeshop and Ruthie’s Rolling Café will provide lunch for purchase at the event.  In addition, entertainment will include Amphibian Productions, Anita Martinez Ballet Folklorico, Big Thought, Dallas Shakespeare, Dallas Children’s Theater, Junior Players, and SPCA.
