Oak Cliff Residents Are Eligible For "Big Fix" Spay And Neuter Program

Oak Cliff residents often complain of loose dogs terrorizing neighborhoods while many pet owners complain of the high cost required to spay and neuter their animals.

Lucky for them, the fix is in.

Thanks to several Dallas-area organizations, pet owners who live south of the Trinity River are eligible for a low-cost spay and neuter program called the Big Fix For The Big D. It's the first phase of a 3 year, $5 million initiative between the SPCA of Dallas, the Kaufmann County Animal Awareness Project, the Metroplex Animal Coalition, and Dallas Animal Services.

“This unique partnership will make a major difference in the animal overpopulation problem, and is a testament to a spirit of cooperation among animal welfare agencies in Dallas,” said Elaine Munch, Metroplex Animal Coalition President. “In fact, the communities seeing the biggest success with spay/neuter programs are those in which several agencies partnered to do more together than they could do separately.”

Pet owners throughout Southern Dallas can make appointments to have their cats and dogs spayed an neutered for just $20. It's an almost-free service that can help end animal suffering and manage the pet population in a city plagued by feral cats and dogs. All the owner must provide is proof of residence in one of the eligible Zip codes.

The service also includes vaccination and registration for all animals. To make an appoinment, visit the Big Fix For Big D site for more information.
