You can get Norma's Cafe's chicken fried steak platter for just $1.79 tomorrow.

When I was pregnant with my son, Cooper, I had heard tales of food from Norma's Cafe sending women into labor. Naturally, I ate there almost every day during those final weeks and grew to love the black-eyed peas and chicken fried chicken.

So just in case you're wondering, you'll know where to find me tomorrow — at Norma's Cafe to celebrate the Oak Cliff diner's 56th birthday with $1.79 chicken and dressing. Or maybe the chicken fried steak. Or perhaps the Texas meatloaf? All three dishes are less than two bucks and come with green beans and mashed potatoes.

The fast and friendly service? Well, that's been on the menu for 56 years. Just ask owner Ed Murph, who used to eat at Norma's when he was just a boy.

Of course, it wouldn't be a celebration without dessert, so don't leave the diner without getting a slice of Norma's famous mile-high cream pie. The chocolate is to die for!

Norma's Cafe is located at 1123 W. Davis St.
