City Hall Posts New Drawings of Proposed North Oak Cliff Library

When the new Lochwood branch of the Dallas Public Library was built, to me it looked a lot like a Jawa Sandcrawler you'd find in the disparate deserts of Tatooine. It's boxy, modern, and fun to look at.

Well, according to a memo from assistant city manager Joey Zapata, the North Oak Cliff is about to get it's own boxy library.

The plans, which were presented on April 16, show the North Oak Cliff Dallas Public Library Branch, shows an exceptionally modern building to be located at 10th Street and North Madison Avenue. The land acquisition, which will be funded by 2006 bond money, is currently in the design review stage.

If you're excited about getting a new library so close to the Bishop Arts District, it might be a while before you can actually check out a book. As of now, there's no funding plan to get the new North Oak Cliff library built.
