The Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts will sponsor a Fall 2011 Salon Series featuring concerts and lectures regarding the arts.  Special events will be held on the second Thursday of each month at the historic Turner House.  All events are scheduled between 7:30 and 9 p.m.

The first of the three-part series will be on Thursday, Oct. 13, featuring Jampact.  Jampact, comprised of Jose Bowen (Dean at SMU) on piano, Kim Corbet on trombone and synth, Akiro Sato on trumpet, Jamal Mohamed on drums and Buddy Mohamed on bass.  The band will play an improvised mix of jazz, funk and blues, offering an exciting collaboration of artists.

Thursday, Nov. 10, Willis Winters, the author of Fair Park, will hold a lecture.  Last year, his book was released in honor of architect George Dahl’s design of Fair Park.  Currently, Winters is the Assistant Director for the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, promoting conservation efforts of the park’s historic structures and artwork created for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition.

On Dec. 8, the Salon Series will host a “Home for the Holidays Concert,” produced by Chris Barker, a resident of Winnetka Heights.  The presentation will include opera and classical music, as well as historic images of Oak Cliff.

Tickets for each performance are $15 for non-members and $10 for OCGSA members and students.  Tickets for the series are $40 for non-members and $25 for members.
