The Scott Murray Scholarship Fund welcomed authors Stratton Horres and Basketball Hall of Famer Sidney Moncrief to a chat about their new book, The True Grift Factor in Leadership: Lessons from the Trail with Scott Murray. The event kicked off the Campaign to raise funds for Student Scholarship Awards. Scholarships are awarded for fall, spring, and summer semesters.

“The Scott Murray Scholarship Fund awards grants to highly motivated students who intend to pursue part-time or full-time undergraduate, technical, or vocational schools. Our recipients represent all fields of study, and we award scholarships without regard to age, gender, race, creed, religion, or national origin,” said Bob Hopkins, executive director of the Fund. "By removing some of the financial burdens associated with continuing education, Scott Murray Scholarship Fund plays a vital role in increasing success for many motivated yet under-served individuals in our North Texas community."

Mr. Horres, after a more than 40-year law career is active in youth leadership education and involved with the All Stars Project and the NBA Retired Players Association of North Texas. Coach Moncrief is a five-time NBA All-Star, a five-time member of the NBA All-Defensive team, a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and an NBA All-Pro. The two shared their books with many of the students attending.
