To celebrate both Black History Month and the accomplishments of young Americans specializing in early music, Lumedia Musicworks presents its Four-Course Concert Series at noon Central time Wednesday, Feb. 10, online. Violist Yvonne Smith of Houston performs selections from baroque composers J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and William Flackton.

Dallas-based nonprofit Lumedia Musicworks is dedicated to sharing and performing music composed before 1750.

“Baroque music has a broad appeal, and these concerts showcase the musical talents of some of the best singers and musicians performing this music today,” said Julianna Emanski of Frisco, Lumedia’s artistic director. “Our goal is to recognize the diverse representation of artists who specialize in this special sub-genre of classical music.”

Smith, founder and artistic director of Houston’s chamber group La Speranza, teaches both modern and historical viola. She has performed with Houston Symphony, Bach Society Houston and American Bach Soloists in San Francisco.
