Lakewood Resident Lee Dorsett, President of the Altrusa International of Downtown Dallas Club, shows off the ticket she bid on at the last meeting for the TeCo Bachelor Auction to be held September 7 in the Bishop Arts District. The TeCo theater is celebrating its 20th year with an auction of 20 local bachelors. Funds raised will pay for scholarships for students to take drama classes and learn about the arts. Altrusa is a community service club made up of business women. The downtown club meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month. The club has been a supporter of women and children in crisis since 1984 and sponsors "Dessert First," an annual event to raise funds for local charities such as CASA, Friends of Wednesday's Child and Genesis Women's Shelter.
