Meet the Newest Bishop Dunne Baby Falcons

Joanne Baham, director of the daycare for teachers at Bishop Dunne High School, home of the Falcons, and her husband Daniel have a baby girl of their own now, born on July 13. Cora Lee Baham was born at 3:53 p.m. Saturday, July 13 and was 7 lbs 15 ounces and 19.5" long at birth. The joke around the school this spring was that Joanne had been "practicing raising children" on all her co-workers' kids before starting a family of her own. She has been director of the daycare for eight years and married for two.

And a week later, it's a boy at Bishop Dunne!

Raleigh Myers Ramirez was born Friday, July 19 at 10:11 p.m. to his parents, Art Department Chair Allison Ramirez and English teacher Scott Ramirez. Son Raleigh, their first child, weighed in at 7 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. The two met while teaching at Bishop Dunne.

Both Cora and Raleigh will travel to work with their parents this fall as school starts. The daycare has been a part of the Bishop Dunne campus since it began with three children eight years ago, the brainchild of former Principal Patrick O'Sullivan, the father of three young children, and President Kate Dailey. Now three classrooms have twenty children from infants to four years old.

An Early Childhood Development Class is an option for juniors and seniors at Bishop Dunne to take as an elective, with the students working in the daycare, to learn about the stages of growth of a child from infancy. Last year's "Golden Falcon" Award for an outstanding student in the course went to the football team's Defensive Captain, Collin Horner, who continued to volunteer in the daycare after his semester of class was over. He was also offered a number of college scholarships—including one for football—upon graduation.

For more information on Bishop Dunne, click here or attend the "BD 100 Dinner" October 10 at the Hilton Anatole to learn about the school and meet the students. Mayor Mike Rawlings is this year's keynote speaker. For more information about the dinner, contact Mary Gracheck at mgracheck@bdhs.org.
