We've been hearing about it all week on the weather channel -- snow in North Texas expected to arrive in the early afternoon and mid-afternoon for surrounding Dallas and Fort Worth counties. Usually, if you're a native Texan, you brush this news off and declare you know better than the weather people. Well, it's here! 

Over the past 30 years, DFW has had a White Christmas in 2009, 2004, 2002, 1998, 1997, 1990 and 1983. Added to the history list will be this year's 2012 snow!

If you live in Collin County, the snow just started falling around 1:15 p.m. The National Weather Service has extended a winter weather advisory to include Dallas and Tarrant counties. The advisory began at 9 a.m. and continues through midnight tonight. The snow will continue into Denton and Collin counties as the sleet moves south into Dallas and Fort Worth later this afternoon.

Collin County is expected to see 1 to 2 inches of snow and Dallas and Tarrant counties will receive one inch or less of accumulating snow. 

This winter weather system will begin moving out of North Texas by 9 p.m. Please use caution if you're traveling today or tomorrow. Dropping temperatures are expected tonight, and this will cause bridges and overpasses to freeze over by Wednesday morning.
