Cara Mia Theater Company Opens Sandra Cisneros' "Milagritos/Little Miracles" Dec. 1

Based on author Sandra Cisneros' collection of short stories entitled "Woman Hollering Creek," Cara Mia Theatre wil open "Milagritos/Little Miracles" on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Latino Cultural Center. The play, which features music from Oak Cliff composer S-Ankh Rasa, starts at 8 p.m. A reception and book signing will precede the performance.

The David Lozano-directed play, which will run from Thursday to Saturday for two weeks, follows a South Texan girl named Chayo as she moves to a different city. Adapted by former Cara Mia Theatre Company creative director Marisela Barrera, the story is woven through the prayers of Chayo's family and neighbors to La Virgen de Guadelupe.

Tickets are $12 and up and can be purchased from caramiatheatre.org. Call 214-717-5297 or email info@caramiatheatre.org for more information. Cara Mia Theatre Company is a non-profit organization that focuses on sharing the culture and heritage of Chicanos and Latinos. The Latino Cultural Center is located at 2600 Live Oak St. near Deep Ellum and downtown Dallas.
