A dog enjoys Oak Cliff Earth Day.

The 7th Annual Oak Cliff Earth Day will be held at historic Lake Cliff Park in the Demonstration Rose Garden on Sunday, April 21 from noon to 5 p.m (rain or shine). Lake Cliff Park is located at the intersection of Colorado and Zang Blvd. in North Oak Cliff. This community-based event is family-, Earth- and pet-friendly. Come and bring family, friends and pets because there is something to entertain everyone. There is no charge to attend this outdoor festival, but there are opportunities to purchase locally grown plants, handicrafts, art and food. There will be a number of food vendors/trucks and plenty of tables and chairs in the food pavilion. Live entertainment will take place starting at 12:30 p.m.

For animal lovers, you can adopt a pet, get your dog chipped by Animal Allies for Texas for $20, have your pet vaccinated by My Pet MVP for a reduced rate, learn about Senior Pets Assistance Network (SPAN), register your pet for the 2nd Annual Oak Cliff Mutt Strut or have a Pooch Smooch for $1 benefiting SPAN.

For children, Oil & Cotton will have a quilt project where children can make individual squares for a new quilt. Kids can also pet animals at the petting zoo, see native reptiles from the John Bunker Sands Wetlands, watch live raptors and view bees in a bee hive.

For adults, there will be lectures given by experts where one can learn about protecting against West Nile Virus, composting, protecting the environment, proper tree care, and hosting a bee hive in your backyard while enjoying a "down home" afternoon in a beautiful park in Oak Cliff. You can also view the entries and winners of our youth poster contest “Saving the Planet” sponsored by the Dallas Public Library and Oak Cliff Earth Day. You can learn about environmentally-friendly vehicles like bikes, a 95 mpg scooter, a hybrid vehicle and a bus that runs on grease from the Dallas County School District.

Registration for booth space is still open, and local businesses and non-profits are invited to participate.  What better way to get your message to the community than a grassroots event such as Oak Cliff Earth Day?

Free parking is available at Lot #10 on Beckley Avenue across from Methodist Hospital. There will be a shuttle bus running from the parking lot to the Festival.
