Tom Brandt joins W. B. Travis TAG Vanguard and Academy as its new principal. The award-winning magnet school is located at 3001 McKinney Avenue in Uptown.

William B. Travis Vanguard and Academy announces its newest principal, Tom Brandt. Tom Brandt comes to Travis from Preston Hollow Elementary where he had served as principal since 2014.

While at Preston Hollow, Brandt led the campus through the 4-year process to become an International Baccalaureate World school. They have also earned both a letter grade of “A” by the state as well as the highest possible district rating of “Accomplished”. Previous to that he taught at Grapevine Colleyville ISD for nine years, was an AP U.S. History teacher at the Townview Magnet Center, and served as an assistant principal at Townview and W.T. White High School. He received two years of training from the prestigious Dallas Teaching Trust school leadership program and completed the Art of Leadership Training at Harvard in summer of 2018. He is currently a member of the Principal Impact Collaborative, an innovative two-year program for an elite group of North Texas area principals.  

In an email from Tesa Golden, PTA President for Travis, she wrote, “In just the first few weeks of school, I’ve received feedback from many parents who are more than impressed with Mr. Brandt. I think he will definitely make a great impact at Travis as he’s highly educated, personable and really allows the parents to have a voice.”
