Dunne Robotics Girls Bishop Dunne's all-girl robotic team took first place at regionals on Jan. 12.

Bishop Dunne’s robotics teams won the Region 12 competition at Bessie Coleman Middle School. The decisive win at the Jan. 12 meet in Cedar Hill will allow both of the Bishop Dunne robotics teams to compete in the state match-up in Deer Park, just outside of Houston, on April 20.

Placing first was the all-girl team led by sophomore Naomi Hayes. The team also included seniors Sarah Massey and Keodara Seifert and  junior Alexis Montgomery. This was the second year in a row for Seifert to be on a first place, all-girls robotics team.

Coming in second was the team of Dan Le, Sara Hightower, C.J. Ramsey and Andrew McCallum.

Robotics teacher and team coach Drew Halevey feels the Bishop Dunne teams will be ready for state come spring.

“They are working hard, and they know what it takes to win the competition,” Halevey said. “It will be a great day!”
