Seven Falcon scholar athletes signed letters of intent Wednesday, Feb. 5 on National Signing Day, including an Ivy League signee to Brown University in Rhode Island.

Senior Nick Watkins had 32 scholarship offers and signed with Notre Dame, while his teammate Frank Tull chose Brown over UPenn. 6'6" Jovan Pruitt verbally committed to Arkansas earlier this year, and Ronnie LaRue and Kwatavious "KT" Jones picked their schools last week. Payton Hendrix will head to Texas Tech, choosing to stay in state instead of joining his friend Nick at Notre Dame.

Alexis "Lexi" Montgomery is the first softball player from Bishop Dunne to commit to a college on a full scholarship in 11 years. She also works as a trainer for the football team, so said she felt right at home signing along with her football-playing classmates.

The entire student body, faculty, staff and parents were on hand to see the signing in the school gym. Each athlete spoke for a moment to the crowd, thanking their coaches, teachers, parents and God for the opportunity to attend college on a scholarship.

Senior Ronnie LaRue pointed out his former pee wee football coach and thanked him for starting him on his path to playing college football. Head Coach Michael Johnson's wife was in the audience with she and her husband's brand new baby daughter, born just few days after Christmas.

There were more than a few tears of joy among the parents, teachers, coaches and classmates of the scholar athletes. "A great day for Dunne!" was the catch phrase heard throughout the hallways.
