Successful vaccination event hosted in collaboration with The Caring Foundation of Texas Care Van®

A recent vaccination clinic at the Texans Can Academies - Dallas Oak Cliff campus marked yet another success as the school works to ensure the highest level of safety available for students and staff as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Over 50 employees signed up to be vaccinated during the three-hour event on April 12 in conjunction with The Caring Foundation of Texans Care Van®.

“We finally have access to a tool to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and, as a place of learning and togetherness, we are working hard to find ways to get students and staff through the pandemic as safely as possible,” said Dr. James J. Ponce,

superintendent. “The recent drive-through event was only the most recent in those efforts, but one we were happy to provide.”

At this point, most health experts agree that after a full vaccination, there is little danger of life-threatening complications from the coronavirus.

“Yes, it will allow our staff to transition back into normal activities, but more importantly, it helps ensure those under 16 that are not yet able to receive a vaccination can remain safe while attending class at the Texans Can Academies,” added Dr. Norma Allen, Chief Human Resource Officer.

Further, Allen said by having such a large portion of the staff sign up and receive a COVID-19 vaccination, it sets a tone for the community that the vaccines are safe and may help bring an end to the pandemic soon.

“The Texans Can Academies, wherever they are located, are designed to be active in their communities,” Allen said. “This is just one example of our centers for learning continuing to take the lead, not only through words, but through action. We truly hope to see others join us by getting vaccinated, for themselves and the community.”
