Downtown Winnsboro bursts with color for 4th Annual BLOOM!

Immersive floral art experience transforms spring into a celebration of color, creativity and community the PERFECT ROAD TRIP!

Downtown Winnsboro prepares to blossom once again with the return of BLOOM, an immersive floral art experience that transforms spring into a vibrant celebration of creativity. Now in its fourth year, this colorful festival hosted by Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA) invites visitors to soak in the artistry, sounds and scents of the season from Saturday, April 11 through Saturday, April 25.

Set against the charming backdrop of The Bowery in Downtown Winnsboros thriving Cultural District, BLOOM transforms the town into a garden of artistic expression. Its the perfect place to plant yourself for a weekend and watch inspiration grow. And its only two hours from DFW!

A Garden of Experiences Awaits

Throughout April, BLOOM offers a bouquet of events designed to delight every sense:

The BLOOM Art Exhibition showcases an exquisite collection of floral and spring-themed works by approximately 30 regional artists. Visitors will discover lush still-life paintings, stunning photography, sculptural pieces and mixed media creations that capture spring in full flourish. The WCA gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday each week of the festival, and admission is FREE.
Art & Heritage Walks invite guests to stroll through Winnsboros storied past, tracing colorful tales from how the town earned its name to the surprising stops made here by Bonnie and Clyde. Guests will also learn about the citys longstanding support of local artists and public art. These FREE guided walks start in front of the Historical Museum and take place Saturday mornings April 11, 18 and 25, at 10 a.m.
The Art of Chris Browns Art Walk, on Friday, April 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., offers a FREE twilight tour through downtown with local artist/BLOOM creator Chris Brown. Guests start at Modern Country and meander through Chriss most inspirational local destinations while discovering favorite works and artists that make Winnsboro shine.
A live concert on The Bowery Stage features Grammy-nominated country singer-songwriter Lee Roy Parnell, whose blues-infused slide guitar promises to set the evening aglow on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket info will be on the website soon.
BLOOMs interactive public sculpture, commissioned by WCA and created by Brown, stands as the festivals centerpiece: a larger-than-life floral statement that invites visitors to gather, connect and capture the perfect springtime selfie.
A weekly Farmers Market, held each Saturday morning in April, celebrates the seasons harvest with fresh produce, handmade crafts and fragrant bouquets of locally grown flowers.

Not Your Garden Variety Festival

BLOOM also offers unexpected delights beyond the arts:

The Winnsboro BLOOM Pickleball Tournament takes place April 1719, adding another opportunity to enjoy outdoor weather along with a dash of friendly competition.
Viva Las Vegas, the April 11 opening-night artist reception and spring fundraiser, invites guests to mingle with BLOOM artists and our best Elvis impersonator while enjoying cocktails and light bites in a lively, celebratory atmosphere. Ticket info will be on the website soon.

BLOOM Where You Are Planted

BLOOM was founded in 2022 by Winnsboro artist Chris Brown, an East Texas native recognized as Best Floral Designer by D Magazine in 2003. As owner of downtown Winnsboros Modern Country gallery and boutique, Brown envisioned BLOOM to unite art and nature in a shared seasonal celebration.

BLOOM is our annual reminder of how inspiring change can be, said Brown. It celebrates the beauty of the turning seasons and Winnsboros deep-rooted appreciation of nature and creative expression.

We are proud of our lively downtown and our reputation as a flourishing arts community, said Mary White, executive director of WCA. BLOOM brings all of us together to celebrate nature and artistry in ways that each of us can enjoy and appreciate.

WCA plays a key role in bringing cultural programming, exhibitions and entertainment to Winnsboro and East Texas. WCA is supported in part by grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, Wood County EDC, Winnsboro EDC and Christus Mother Frances Health Systems. Childrens Cancer Fund proudly celebrates 36 years of hope and heart! Hughes Family Tribute Center will host a 10-week Dementia Care-Partner Support Group beginning Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Care partners who are interested in attending the support group are asked to register to attend and pay $25.00 (plus tax and processing fees) to cover the cost of the workbook and class materials. Limited scholarships are available.

The more people who are compassionate to the dementia care partner from the outside in, the more they are capable of being self-compassionate from the inside out."

Each weekly session will cover different aspects of caring for someone with dementia. For example, topics during the first three weeks include:

- The first week will introduce the hosts of the group, distribute the Dementia Care-Partner Workbook to those that registered, and begin discussions of what the group will experience and learn over the next 10 weeks.

- The second week will begin a foundation to understand and learn about what dementia is, how it is diagnosed, the various forms of dementia, and much more.

- Week 3 will discuss the key parts of the brain and their functions, defining activities of daily living, and the different stages of dementia from mild cognitive impairment to late-stage dementia. This week builds on top of Week 2's discussion of what dementia is and how it impacts the mind and physical body.

Plague Mask Players back with the amazing AT&T Performing Arts Centers Elevator Project to present 'Alice' a variation on Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland', by playwright, Ara Vito, and directed by Samantha Calatozzo Cobb. This production will be the Texas premiere of this exciting new work, and Plague Mask Players is thrilled to be the first to bring it to life for DFW audiences. Dallas, TX March 6, 2026 Renowned Reflectionist artist Lea Fisher & Mixed-Media artist Metis Atash are returning to Samuel Lynne Galleries for their very first dual-artist exhibition together Parallel Reflections, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the gallerys flagship location, 1105 Dragon Street, in the heart of the Dallas Design District.

This highly anticipated exhibition brings together two distinct yet harmonized artistic voices exploring themes of awakening, consciousness, and contemporary feminine energy through radically different visual languages.

Rather than presenting contrast, Parallel Reflections reveals two artists operating as mirror planesreflecting inner transformation from complementary vantage points: spiritual and psychological, external and internal, symbolic and emotional.

EXHIBITION CONCEPT

Metis Atash and Lea Fisher each channel powerful feminine energy within their work.

Metis Atash manifests this energy through crystallized sacred iconography. Her Swarovski-enhanced Punk Buddhas and exotic animal sculptures radiate divine presence, rebellion, and joyful irreverencetransforming traditional spiritual symbols into contemporary reflections of enlightenment.

Lea Fisher, a Reflectionist painter and licensed master counselor, embodies feminine strength through psychological self-portraiture. Her three-dimensional oil paintings explore healing, introspection, and emotional resilience, functioning as mirrors of the viewers inner life.

Together, their practices form parallel expressions of awakeningone externalized through sculptural form, the other internalized through painterly depth.
