Hughes Family Tribute Center will host a 10-week Dementia Care-Partner Support Group beginning Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Care partners who are interested in attending the support group are asked to register to attend and pay $25.00 (plus tax and processing fees) to cover the cost of the workbook and class materials. Limited scholarships are available.

Each weekly session will cover different aspects of caring for someone with dementia. For example, topics during the first three weeks include:

- The first week will introduce the hosts of the group, distribute the Dementia Care-Partner Workbook to those that registered, and begin discussions of what the group will experience and learn over the next 10 weeks.

- The second week will begin a foundation to understand and learn about what dementia is, how it is diagnosed, the various forms of dementia, and much more.

- Week 3 will discuss the key parts of the brain and their functions, defining activities of daily living, and the different stages of dementia from mild cognitive impairment to late-stage dementia. This week builds on top of Week 2's discussion of what dementia is and how it impacts the mind and physical body.

When Bilal is accused of being a terrorist and jailed awaiting trial, Eric tries to stay connected by pushing aside his own classical aspirations in order to learn big brother's jazz style. Separated by prison bars and religious convictions, the brothers scat and be-bop through their shared language of music. As his brother's trial progresses, Eric becomes disillusioned and struggles to decide if he believes the charges levied against his beloved older brother, or if false accusations make him a beleaguered martyr to a prejudiced, paranoid nation.

The Hughes Family Tribute Center will present its second annual El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros on Sunday, April 19, 2026. The Day celebrates children and families and will feature free childrens books, roses, music, refreshments, games, storytelling, face painting, and childrens entertainment. The Day is free and open to the public.

Each child will receive a free hardcover copy of either Paletero Man by Latin Grammy-winning musician Lucky Diaz and celebrated artist Micah Player or Milo + Niko by D. Guzmán.
