In a Texas-sized show of support for the future home of emergency, trauma, and critical care services in Dallas, Nancy Ann and Ray L. Hunt have made a $2 million gift to the Methodist Health System BrightER capital campaign to help fund the new Charles A. Sammons Tower at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
“Mr. and Mrs. Hunt have chosen to forever transform the lives of countless patients and their families,” says April Box Chamberlain, CFRE, president and CEO, Methodist Health System Foundation and senior vice president of external affairs. “Their generosity will help us to improve and save lives through our expanded trauma and critical care services at the Charles A. Sammons Tower.”
“Ray and I have had the pleasure of serving as honorary chairs on the Methodist Health System Foundation’s BrightER capital campaign,” says Mrs. Nancy Ann Hunt. “The experience gave us a close look at how much this facility and these services are needed in Southern Dallas County. We are happy to add our support to the many others who have contributed to such a worthwhile effort.”
To date, the BrightER capital campaign, chaired by Chris Kleinert, president and CEO of Hunt Consolidated Investments, LLC, has raised more than $18.7 million toward its goal of $20 million. The funds will be used to construct and equip the six-story, 248,000-square-foot Charles A. Sammons Tower which is scheduled to open in July 2014.
The $123 million facility is dedicated and designed for advanced emergency and trauma care for the nearly 90,000 patients who will use these services each year at Methodist Dallas. Sammons Tower will expand the hospital’s emergency department ten-fold with 50 new emergency room beds, five trauma suites, eight surgical suites, a 36-bed critical care unit, and the ability to expand to 11 stories for future growth.
