Dale Munday, Methodist Health System

The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation has named Dale Munday, graphics center specialist, Methodist Health System, as its 2014 System Employee of the Year.

Munday was one of 14 award recipient in eight categories honored by the DFWHS Foundation at its 18th Annual Employee of the Year Awards ceremony on April 22 at the Irving Convention Center. Nominations were accepted from more than 50 area hospitals.

I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition than Dale Munday, says Jim O’Reilly, vice president of human resources, Methodist Health System. “Dale is an energetic, reliable resource for his own team and the many internal departments who depend on him.”

Munday was cited in his nomination for working short staffed for most of 2013 due to an unexpected, extended leave of a co-worker. The nomination states, “Without hesitation, he assumed his co-worker’s duties in addition to maintaining his regular responsibilities, effectively performing the jobs of two employees.”

Munday was also commended for his service away from the workplace. As a former electrician, he travelled to Galveston to restore power to homes damaged by Hurricane Ike, remodeled a home in Oklahoma for a disabled person, and hosts an annual fish fry to benefit retired firefighters in Irving.

“Dale is extremely humble, never seeking out praise or accolades for his acts of kindness,” O’Reilly says. “His contributions come from his character which has benefitted countless people”
