The Hughes Family Tribute Center will host a Candlelight Vigil on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. to honor and remember those who were taken from us as victims of crimes. A brief service will be held, followed by the Vigil. Candles will be provided to attendees.
“Losing a loved one to a crime is a profoundly harrowing and challenging ordeal. Our solemn mission during this Candlelight Vigil is to pay tribute to and cherish the memories of those who have fallen victim to crime. Through this gathering, we aim to provide solace and support to their bereaved families, guiding them along the arduous journey of grief towards a pathway of healing and renewal,” said Stephanie Hughes, owner and funeral director.
This event is part of the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Every April , the national Office of Victims of Crime leads communities throughout the country in their annual observances of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The events honor crime victims and survivors, recognize the professionals and volunteers who provide critical services to victims of crime, and raise awareness about crime victims’ rights and services.
The national theme this year is How would you help?
The 2024 theme asks all of us—friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, community leaders, victim service providers, criminal justice practitioners, and health professionals—how we can help crime victims. Are you prepared if someone confides in you about a victimization? Is your organization victim-centered and trauma-informed? Are you familiar with the services available in your community?
