I draft simple wills. When I say simple, I’m talking about not enough money to worry about estate tax. That kicks in if your estate is worth north of $11 million or so. My wills are appropriate for the majority of us who live in Oak Cliff.
If you have a will, you can direct who will receive what from your estate. If you have kids, you can name guardians and trustees for them. Your estate is easily probated. If you don’t have a will, the law says what happens to your estate. It can get complicated, messy and expensive in a hurry.
Everyone needs a will. I will draft one for you, along with a Living Will and a Medical Power of Attorney. These documents tell the doctors whether to let you go in comfort if you are terminally ill and appoint someone to decide about your medical treatment if you are unable.
I'am a notary, too. I'll come to your house (even in these days of COVID-19, with appropriate precautions) to supervise the execution of the documents and notarize them.
