Oak Cliff's Bishop Arts District won't completely escape the melee of Black Friday, but if you really want to get the deals and support local entrepreneurs, head over for Small Business Saturday.

Several retailers will offer specials and events on Saturday to encourage shoppers to buy local and handmade. One such business, IndieGenius at Zang and Seventh, will actually be closed on Black Friday.

"We will have big sales on both our products, gift cards and classes," said IndieGenius owner and founder Julie McCullough Kim. "One of our specials is buy a $65 or more class gift certificate and get an additional $10 gift certificate."

The Laughing Willow, which will be open Friday, is giving away free scarves to shoppers who buy $50 or more worth of merchandise on Black Friday. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
